New Ideas for Jacket

Today, Anton and I went to MetroLifestyle where we buy our fabrics from. It is about 2 km from our house here in Reagan Park. We looked at shweshwe fabric to make our jackets. That was what I had in mind for my jacket which we want to wear to the modeling school fashion show next week.

Collection 3 Study 14

 Collection 3 Study 14

Last month, I was busy sketching and used Keith Proctor's ideas to do my drawing. I also learned how to draw figure drawings with these sketches.

Fancy Fairy Wings & Things!

Fancy Fairy Wings & Things!

"I made fairy wings for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2014 & 2015, and apparently the wings on the left are being displayed by VS at New York Fashion Week right now!
It appears VS is rebranding, including more diverse models and body types, which is a positive move. With new people at the helm, I hope it means they're serious about being inclusive moving forward.

Pieter Lategan Title: Lockdown Day 6 No Booze

Medium: A4 Paper Pencil H, HB

Today is day 6 of South Africa lockdown because of the coronavirus, 5 people are dead.

I draw this man from a photo which I got from the internet.  I am really satisfied. The face is working, the hand was a bit difficult, but yes I am happy and feel well done. I would like to work on the background but let me first get the faces correct.

Less food on the shelves in the supermarkets.  I think people eat a lot.

Pieter Lategan Title: Lockdown Day 4 - Waiting

On day 4 of lockdown, everyone awaits the latest news. The streets are quiet and the global death toll has reached 34,000 people. The pound is valued at R22.28, the highest ever seen. The oil price has dropped due to decreased demand. Everyone hopes for a vaccine as hospitals struggle in the USA.

Reflecting on my work, I believe it's good. I like the hair, but the mouth isn't perfect, so I'll practice more. The ears aren't great, but it's alright - there are similarities to the photo. I'm satisfied with the sketch, having spent about 5 hours on it, paying close attention to detail.

Pieter Lategan Title: The Fear For The Coronavirus

Medium: A4 Paper Pencil H

People live now in fear. The elderly are the worst hit by the coronavirus. They are weak and do not have the ability to fight the virus.

I drew it from a photo that I got on the internet.

So what do I think about my work?

Lowly I am moving out of the deep waters, and I can feel it looks better. I am proud of myself because I used a photo. The eyes work, the nose is almost there, the mouth is okay, and the ears are good. So yes, I am happy about the sketch. I took a walk to the shop, and the rows were long, and we had to stand outside of the shop. There are only a few people allowed in the shop, so I waited for about 30 minutes outside, and I was out in 6 minutes.
