No Mercy Pop Group in South Africa

No Mercy - Please Don't Go (21 January 1997)

"Please Don't Go" by KC and the Sunshine Band is a classic disco and pop song that was popular in the late 1970s. Songs like this one would often be played in settings such as discotheques, clubs, and parties during that era. Its upbeat tempo and catchy melody made it a favorite for dancing and socializing at venues where people gathered to enjoy music and have a good time. Throughout the years, it has remained a staple in retro playlists, dance parties, and events with a musical focus on the disco era.

"Please Don't Go" by No Mercy at the 90s-themed event held at the SunBet Arena in Time Square, Pretoria, hosted by Radio Jacaranda, will be a fantastic and nostalgic evening filled with amazing music and entertainment. With 8 acts performing and the event hosted by Martin Bester and Alex Jay of Jacaranda FM, attendees can expect a world-class production that celebrates the music of the 90s. It's sure to be an exciting evening for fans of that era!

"Lady Gaga Meets the Mona Lisa: A Lipstick Smile at the Louvre"

The Louvre, Joker: Folie à Deux, and Lady Gaga's Bold Twist on the Mona Lisa

Joker Folie à Deux x Louvre | Lady Gaga, Mona Lisa

"Exploring the Fool: A New Exhibition at the French Institution"

"The Louvre, renowned for housing some of the most iconic works of art in history, is adding a modern twist to its cultural influence as it seems to be aligning with the anticipation for Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the 2019 film Joker. While fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Joaquin Phoenix, whose Oscar-winning portrayal of Batman’s nemesis captivated audiences, rumors suggest that the film’s co-star, Lady Gaga, will make her mark on one of the museum’s most famous residents—the Mona Lisa.

The Mona Lisa, painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the early 16th century, is one of the most celebrated and recognizable artworks in the world. Its enigmatic smile has been the subject of endless fascination, representing the pinnacle of Renaissance art. Yet, its status as an art-world icon has also made it a frequent target for reinterpretation and subversion in popular culture.

In a striking promotional move, Lady Gaga is rumored to be involved in a stunt that will see her 'drawing lipstick' on the Mona Lisa. The bold act of adding bright lipstick to da Vinci's masterpiece would symbolize a provocative blend of high art and pop culture, much like Gaga herself, known for pushing boundaries in both music and fashion. The lipstick—a symbol of femininity, beauty, and rebellion—could signify a playful disruption of the art world's long-standing traditions. It can also be interpreted as a nod to her character in the Joker sequel, who may take on the persona of Harley Quinn, a figure famous for her chaotic and unpredictable nature.

The idea of altering the Mona Lisa recalls themes central to the Pop Art movement, where icons of high culture were reimagined in ways that challenged the elitism of traditional art. Artists like Andy Warhol famously turned everyday objects and celebrities into art, blurring the line between 'high' and 'low' culture. Warhol’s iconic silk-screen images of Marilyn Monroe, for instance, transformed a Hollywood starlet into a symbol of mass production and celebrity worship. In a similar vein, Gaga's imagined lipstick on the Mona Lisa would highlight the merging of art, fame, and consumerism.

This provocative move, blending the classical allure of the Mona Lisa with Gaga's pop-icon status, mirrors the way Joker: Folie à Deux itself straddles the line between gritty psychological drama and blockbuster entertainment. It also illustrates how institutions like the Louvre continue to influence and respond to contemporary culture, bridging the gap between past and present through artistic innovation."

Linda Givon was a prominent figure in the South African art scene, best known as the founder of the Goodman Gallery in Johannesburg. Born into a family with a rich cultural background—her parents, Morris and Hetty Finger, were Lithuanian immigrants who settled in South Africa after World War II—Linda's upbringing fostered an appreciation for art, particularly through her mother’s passion for collecting.

She pursued her education at the University of the Witwatersrand, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, and further honed her skills at the London School of Dramatic Art, where she obtained a diploma in teaching and acting. After marrying Brian Miller and having two children, she relocated to London, but in 1964, she returned to South Africa, where her path intersected with Tony Goodman. They married, and in 1966, she established the Goodman Gallery in Hyde Square, a significant venue for contemporary art.

Givon was known for her discerning eye in selecting artists, focusing on their quality, skill, and ability to convey the South African experience through their work. Beyond her role as a gallery owner, she was a committed patron of the arts, generously donating to institutions and advocating for community art centers. Linda Givon passed away in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of support for artists and the cultural landscape of South Africa.

Mannequins' Bailey

Update: 24 September 2024

Keeping your mannequin upright and steady is crucial before finalizing your display. It can be frustrating when your creation topples over after completion. Ensuring the mannequin is secure on the ground or properly hanging is essential to prevent any safety hazards in your shop.

When selecting a mannequin, be mindful that the body proportions may vary. For instance, a large torso paired with thin legs can make the mannequin unstable and prone to tipping.

Strategically placing the mannequin away from high-traffic areas and adjusting the leg stance for better stability can go a long way in keeping your displays secure and safe for customers.

By addressing these key factors upfront, you can avoid the disappointment and potential dangers of a fallen mannequin.

You Are In Love - Taylor's Version (2023)

Anton and I (2022)

In 2022, we opened our first pop-up store to sell our shorts, but it was a challenging experience. We only managed to sell one short, which was disappointing financially, even though I was happy to make a sale. In the end, the monthly cost of renting the retail space exceeded the revenue generated from clothing sales, resulting in a net loss for the venture.

MANNEQUIN (1987) Trailer Remastered HD

The 1987 romantic comedy film "Mannequin" follows the whimsical tale of Jonathan Switcher, a struggling artist who finds his true calling as a gifted window dresser at a prestigious Philadelphia department store. Directed by Michael Gottlieb in his debut, the film blends elements of fantasy and romance as Jonathan's life takes an unexpected turn when the mannequin, he creates in the store's display window suddenly comes to life, inhabited by the spirit of an ancient Egyptian woman. This magical mannequin, played by the captivating Kim Cattrall, can only be seen and interacted with by Jonathan, much to the bewilderment of his coworkers, including the gruff but goodhearted security guard played by Meshach Taylor. As Jonathan navigates his budding romance with the living mannequin and battles the store's ruthless executive, played by a deliciously villainous James Spader, the film weaves a lighthearted, charming story about the power of creativity, the search for one's purpose, and the transformative magic that can blossom from the most unexpected of circumstances. With an eclectic supporting cast that includes the legendary Estelle Getty, and a vibrant original score by Sylvester Levay, "Mannequin" blends whimsy, humor, and heart, offering viewers a delightfully entertaining cinematic experience that has endured as a beloved cult classic.

The Yano V-Neck Collarless Shirt

Yano TikTok

The V-Neck Collarless Shirt:

The v-neck collarless shirt, a style favored by many Indian men, exudes a distinctive elegance and timelessness. This garment, often referred to as a "kurta," has been a staple of traditional Indian fashion for centuries, its origins deeply rooted in the rich cultural tapestry of the subcontinent. The absence of a collar lends the shirt a refined, minimalist aesthetic, allowing the focus to remain on the clean lines and graceful drape of the fabric. Typically crafted from lightweight, breathable materials such as cotton or linen, the v-neck kurta is well-suited to the warm, tropical climate of India, providing comfort and ease of movement. The v-shaped neckline, a hallmark of this style, serves to accentuate the face and neck, creating a visually striking and flattering silhouette. Many kurtas are adorned with intricate embroidery, vibrant patterns, or delicate embellishments, reflecting the artistic heritage of India's diverse regions and communities. Whether worn as casual everyday attire or as part of formal traditional dress, the v-neck collarless shirt remains a timeless and elegant choice for the modern Indian gentleman, seamlessly blending centuries-old sartorial traditions with a contemporary sensibility.

Creating a v-neck collarless shirt is a rewarding sewing project that allows you to craft a stylish and versatile garment from scratch. To begin, you'll want to select a lightweight, breathable fabric that will drape nicely, such as a cotton, rayon, or linen blend. The key to a successful v-neck design is getting the neckline just right - it should be cut to flatter your neck and shoulders, with a flattering v-shape that is neither too deep nor too shallow. As you construct the shirt, pay close attention to the placement and shaping of the v-neck, taking the time to properly interface the area for a crisp, professional finish. The lack of a collar creates a modern, minimalist look, allowing the focus to remain on the clean lines of the v-neckline. You'll also want to consider the sleeve style, opting for short, 3/4-length, or long sleeves depending on your desired look and climate. Finishing touches like hemming, topstitching, and adding any optional embellishments or details will help you create a polished, custom-fitted v-neck collarless shirt that you'll reach for time and time again. With careful construction and a keen eye for fit, this versatile garment can become a wardrobe staple you'll feel confident and comfortable wearing.

Designing a v-neck style can be a nuanced and creative process that allows you to showcase your unique fashion sensibilities. The key is finding the right balance between a flattering neckline and a stylish, eye-catching look. To start, consider the overall silhouette you want to achieve - a v-neck can work well with both fitted and flowy garments, so think about whether you want a more tailored, structured feel or a softer, more fluid drape. The depth and angle of the v-shape itself is also important - a shallower v will be more conservative, while a deeper, more dramatic v can create a sultry, alluring vibe. Play around with the placement of the v-point as well, experimenting to find the most flattering spot on the body. You'll also want to think about the neckline finish - will it be a simple raw edge, a clean-finished binding, or perhaps an embellished trim or collar detail? All of these elements work together to develop the final v-neck design. With some thoughtful consideration of the style you're going for and a bit of creative flair, you can design a v-neck that beautifully complements the wearer's figure and personal aesthetic.

What is a Drone Chicken?

What is a Drone Chicken? - Pieter Lategan (11 September 2024)

Part of marketing is to do something different and to be unique. The social media platforms are taking over the TV industry. Large companies compete with small entrepreneurs working from their rooms. The competition swiftly transitions to the guy who starts his own business, making it possible for him to grow into a big business after a few years.

It is now known that the internet is the global advertising platform, and it is still growing and overtaking television marketing. Smartphones have changed everything because they are affordable and easily accessible.

Attention is what people need to advertise themselves, which is why they need to be different. This is also the reason why social media influencers become famous.
