The New Coffee Shirt

I got this mini mat a year or so ago, and it was just lying in the studio. I thought to make a shirt on it and started around Thursday. It was not a huge success, and I still need to work on it.

In Chinese Girl 2.0, she becomes more aware — no longer just looked at, but looking back. While Tretchikoff’s original symbolized mystery and beauty, this new version carries questions. What happens when the East is no longer “other,” but central? What does it mean when tradition and technology merge under authoritarian rule? In this painting, she becomes a mirror of our time — a symbol of how power has shifted, and how art must keep watching. In Chinese Girl 2.0, she doesn't ask for attention — she demands reflection.
